Who We Are

Who We Are

First and foremost; just as you, We Are Wildlife.

We are also a non-profit organization and a team of conservation photographers who joined forces to empower conservation projects around the world, and raise awareness of the challenges they face. We aim to mobilize people, in order for them to want to protect the scarce wildlife and wild places that remain on our planet. You cannot protect what you do not know.

“Man is the only creature who refuses to be what he is”

– Albert Camus

Our Vision is a world where all species live in harmony with one another.

We are social animals who take part in a communication game that goes on our whole lives. Everything from our need for peer acknowledgement to conservation photography, is based on communication.

Within that game, human beings are moved by beauty. Beauty is key, as Doug Tompkins used to say. Us nature photographers, communicate the beauty of nature, in hopes that other humans will empathize with it, and protect it. When that happens, people are empathizing with humanity’s own beauty, even if they don’t realize it at first.

We mobilize people’s souls, at least the ones that are open to it. So as long as there are people out there open to it, we’ve got a job to do. We must always remember, and help others remember along the way, that We Are Wildlife.

Our Mission is to reconnect people with their own nature.

WAW creatively communicates the beauty of wilderness and the passionate efforts being carried out by conservationists to protect it. We aim to create empathy and marvel people, while empowering conservation projects around the world.

Wildlife and wildlands are losing the battle. A mass extinction is underway at this very moment, and we humans are the main reason that’s happening. If we don’t do something to stop it, we are next. We exist to support conservation projects, mainly through conservation photography and video, producing and gathering images of the work of researchers such as field biologists, and the wildlife they work with, on the ground.

In that way, we aim to document and showcase their efforts and progress through broadcasting the content on social media, exhibitions, and presentations. Additionally, we support their field work with research tools, staff, and logistics, when needed throughout the projects.
